Recognised as one of the Research Institutes and is granted exemption under section 35(1)(3) of IT ACT. These contribution/donation given to the Institute is exempted from IT.

The name of the Institute has been enlisted by the International Institute of Labour Studies. The Institute has also been granted membership of Econometric Society of India.

The Institute has been registered by Home Ministry, GOI of India to avail aid under FCCR Act, 1976.

Scientific and Industrial Research Department (GOI) has recognised MGLI as Research Institute.

The MGLI has set up Research Project Cell for Action Research on migrant workers, construction workers, agricultural labourers etc.

Mahatma Gandhi Shram Sahyog Purashkar was introduced for the first time in the State of Gujarat. No similar award exists in any other State or the Union Territory.

First Gujarat Human Development Report - 2004 was published by MGLI in the year 2005.

MGLI was preferred and designated as Nodal Agency under NRF Scheme (National Renewal Fund Scheme) for Gujarat State. Under this scheme, the institute had trained 8459 displaced workers up to April, 2004 and achieved a great credit at national and international level.

Under the IWRS Scheme (Industrial Workers Rehabilitation Scheme) launched by Govt. Of Gujarat on 1st May, 2004, 1474 displaced workers were retrained in various trades.

Industrial Safety and Hygine : The MGLI is offering a one year post graduate diploma course on Industrial Safety and Hygine benefiting personnel engaged in hazardous industries in the state of Gujarat. The MGLI is also recongnised for training 'Competent Persons' as part of Industrial Safety and Hygine. The MGLI has gained strength in this sector and it is rendering useful service to the hazardous industries in Gujarat.

Safety Audit : The institute has recently started the 'Safety Audit' work of the Hazardous Industries as per Indian Standard Organisation Code No. 14489. The State Industries such as GSFC (Sikka), GACL (Dahej), Navin Florin Ind.(Surat) etc. were audited by the competent faculty of the Institute.
