Mahatma
Gandhi Labour Institute shall endeavour to achieve
this vision by following strategies :
By
undertakingstudies/research on issues that
have bearing on labour and employment in the
state as well as having implications for the
national level policies and programmes.
By designing and organizing training programmes
for key personnel/functionaries and representatives
of trade unions, NGOs, Government, elected
representatives of the people and workers.
By
working to evolve indigenous models of
industrial relations based on Mahatma Gandhi's
ideas, philosophy and approach to labour,
employment and industrial relations.
By
focusing on labour judiciary and labour laws
related activities for studies and training
and by compilation of relevant materials for
dissemination
By
continuous watching of employment environment
with changing contributions of various sectors-primary,
secondary and tertiary.
By
instituting suitable AWARDS for large/medium sized companies / establishments / organizations
in Gujarat.
This
will be further supported by bringing out
periodic reports and books on critical labour
related issues relevant to formulation of
policies and programmes in the field of labour,
labour welfare, employment and wages &
income and productivity.
Center of Excellence
Over a period of time, the Institute will extend
and deepen its expertise in several of its core
areas of activities by developing Centres of excellence
within the institute. The institute shall work
for setting up the following Centres under its
umbrella. Each Centre shall take up studies, action
research and training programmes for target groups, suggestive list of which is provided
below.

Centre for investment in skill, development for promoting micro enterprise among working class.

Each centre, based on its specialized focus and

unorganized sectors and in rural and urban areas,

We visualize that each centre will have a
critical minimum assured budget for activities
to ensure that the objectives of the MGLI are
not distorted for want of funds for activities,
However, expansion of activities in each field
will have to be partly based on external funding
by way of sponsored activities, joint projects
and programmes, consultancy work, etc.
