Mahatma Gandhi Labour
Institute has been conceived as a place
of learning in various disciplines,
gathering experiences from various countries.
It is set in a plot
of 11,500 sq. mts. of land amidst a
chain of low rise reputed Institutes
of learning and residential colonies.
The building of the Institute has grandeur
of its own without the overwhelming
presence of a monument.
Shri. BalKrishna
Doshi, an eminent architect of international
repute, has designed the building as
a continuity of spaces where people
can meet and exchange ideas and experiences.
With a series of overlaps, its vertical
and horizontal directions, it has a
certain fluidity that changes shape
in the form of class rooms and seminar
rooms, library, exhibition hall, amphitheatre,
auditorium, courtyards and gardens.
